Chapter 48 - May 10, 2012

Everything will be all right in the end, and if it's not all right, it's not the end.

Hi everybody.  That was my roommate's mantra at the hospital in New York.  He got the quote from some movie.  It's now my mantra.  Pretty cool.  Anyway, I forgot to mention something last week.  When I was in bed having my first seizure, my dog jumped up in my lap and started barking at me.  I looked at him with my coffee and said what the hell are you barking at?  Next thing you know, I woke up in the hospital in New York City.  I don't remember anything, little bits and pieces are coming back.  Right now, I'm back at my old rehabilitation hospital.  They're telling me I'm here to recover from the seizures.  It's very early yet, like they think my medicine may have had a lot to do with it.  I just keep working hard and do what they say.  It's a surreal experience coming back to the place you were before.  It's like I said, life sometimes is like playing shoots and ladders.  You get stuck back at start again.  Anyway, I have to keep it short because I get so tired so quickly.

Oh, by the way, a friend of mine worked at the hospital in New York.  It probably helped saved my life.  Very cool.

Oh, well, another story.  See you next week.  I'll talk to you next week. Love, B. Nice

  3. You are amazing my old friend! I have always loved your stories, you, and your family. I remember after we became friends in the 5th grade, you had a birthday party where your mom pulled a 7foot long submarine sandwich out of the trunk of your little BMW2002. It seemed liked a circus trick to me at the time, and I remember thinking.."wow, not only is he cool, but his Mom is as well!" [Sandra, If you are reading this, Happy Mothers Day to an amazing Mom/Woman]...Of course your Dad is cool too[insert Rattlesnake and Axe story here] as well as your Sister who I always had a crush on, but our "no dating sisters rule" was in effect.
I wish I lived closer to you as everytime I see you, your strength ebbs into me, as it always has...5000 miles is just too much.
Sorry to hear about the setback, but keep the stories and paintings and whatever else you have coming. You are an inspiration to so many, I am sure.

  4. Hi Brian! This is the Valium-giving photographer writing... I am sitting here with tears streaming down my cheeks reading your latest posts. I think of you very often and if good thoughts could help heal your problem, you would be well on your way to a full recovery. Your stubborn courage and steadfast dedication - and despite occasional setbacks - will eventually and doubtlessly carry the day!
    Love,
    Mike

  5. Hi Brian! Reading your blog moved me to write and tell you I have been praying for you and will continue to pray for you! It's been a long time since we were seniors at James I O'Neill! I keep in touch with a lot of old pals from way back when. Always know there are people thinking of you and sending healing thoughts your way. :)
    Love, Jackie Murphy Frymire
